Typical Monday yesterday starting out the day with my PR internship at Shout Public Relations in Orange County. Managed to squeeze in a few shots of my outfit for the day before running off to work at Fashion Island as a newly-promoted manager at Rebecca Taylor. Crazy and hectic Monday as usual, but I’m getting accustomed and am excited for what’s ahead!

My gosh, the fall semester is finally over and I’ve about just relaxed for this past week due to being burnt out on final schoolwork. Cannot WAIT until graduation in May! But now that I’m on winter break, I must and will try to post more consistently!
I’ve had this grey jacket for probably about five years and haven’t worn it in just about that long. I’m usually not a jacket type of person, but lately I’ve really come to terms with what a jacket does for an outfit. Decided to take this one out from the back of my closet and rediscovered why I bought it in the first place! It was an easy pull-together for a casual daytime outfit and a perfect jacket to keep me cute and warm for a night out.

This is my favorite new sweater and of course it’s Free People. They just get it right. Almost every time. I love that this sweater is enough of an outfit on its own and I can just throw my hair up in a bun, especially in this rainy weather (happens so often!) and it still looks put-together. And my new favorite pumps–leopard! Yay. Dolce Vita. Always getting it right.

Although Christmas is my favorite holiday, Thanksgiving really kicks off the true holiday season. This year, my sister and brother-in-law are hosting our traditional Thanksgiving feast at their place in Oxnard so I’ve been here for a couple days. It’s nice to get away for a little bit and just spend some (kind of) relaxing time with family. We’re a pretty casual family when it comes to holidays, so I opted for a new TopShop t-shirt style dress since I’m not much of a pretty-dress girl anyway and a boyfriend blazer that keeps me nice and warm in the cold Oxnard weather.
This year, I’m especially thankful for my friends and family who have been there for me no matter what and thankful that I have a job and am healthy! Happy Thanksgiving everybody and remember to thankful everyday! 🙂

Went to the Packing District this week with my sister to try some new places to eat for Dining With Dre. Opted for a more casual outfit since the Packing House is definitely a casual place, but still a bit trendier than most cafeterias. Kept cool in a simple tank and a flannel worn as a skirt (inspired by my bff, Naazak) for the warm summer evening. Definitely want to go back to explore and try more places! Dining With Dre: Packing House review is coming this week!

I’ve been wanting to incorporate more lifestyle pieces into my blog for some time, so I’m very excited to start this five-week excursion of new lifestyle pieces I’m calling: Dining With Dre. I’ll be trying a new restaurant each week and posting an outfit that goes along with the restaurant theme. So here goes! First stop, Lobsta Truck stopped in Huntington Beach, California.
I noticed that there are food trucks lined up at a nearby Total Wine and Sports Chalet parking lot every Thursday and have always been interested in trying one of them, specifically the Lobsta Truck. I’ve heard its signature entree, the Lobsta Rolls are delicious. I did a little research beforehand and saw that they were going to be at the food truck party today making it a perfect opportunity to check it out.
Before the truck opened to a readily-formed line of people, I was able to sneak in a couple questions with the manager of the truck, Michael Easterby.
“We’re the first truck to open on the west coast that serves east coast-style sandwiches. Most commonly the lobster and crab rolls,” Easterby said. “We fly in everything from the east coast. The lobster comes from Maine. We pick it up every day at LAX.”
I tried the Lobsta Roll with butter and it did not disappoint. The lobster tasted fresh and the butter was just the right amount, generously lathered across all pieces of lobster on the roll. The bread, while seemingly the least interesting part of the Lobsta Roll, still had so much flavor to it. I think the bread was toasted with butter too, and who doesn’t love butter?
Lobsta Truck’s most popular item on the menu is the Lobsta Roll and it’s offered with butter or with mayonnaise. Lobster and mayo–a weird combination, but apparently those east coasters like it because Easterby said that’s the main difference between the west and east coasts. West coast tends to go for the buttered lobster and the east coast goes for the mayo-ed lobster.
Lobsta Truck’s menu is simple and easy to navigate. It features the popular Lobsta Roll and Crab Roll, but another popular entree is the Lobsta Bisque, a creamy concoction with a subtle lobster undertone. Check out Lobsta Truck’s website for its location schedule, menus and photos.
Knowing that the Lobsta Truck is all seafood, it inspired me to dress a little more nautically than usual, but casual since it was just a little food truck in a parking lot. Just got these Steve Madden sandals for such a steal. Excited to get good use out of them.
After finding Commissary Lounge at the Lab for my sister’s bachelorette party, I can definitely see myself going back regularly. For the underground, warehouse vibe Commissary carries, this athletic-inspired crop top with this white mesh skirt is perfect. I was deciding that night between wearing black pumps or booties and, I’m glad I went with basic black booties because Commissary is more on the casual side. Love this look and loved Commissary.
